Welcome,
Caitlin Brama

I would like to introduce you to our new Credit Union President, Caitlin Brama. Caitlin has been Branch Manager at Financial One Credit Union and is a welcome addition and change to Farm Credit Employees FCU. Please take the time to stop by and meet her.

Looks like times are changing at the Farm Credit Employees Federal Credit Union. After 40 years working at FCEFCU, Theresa is retiring. I myself am also looking at retiring within the next couple years. My plan is to work with Caitlin for approximately 6 months full time and then another year or so part time doing front office work. Tye will be here to train me in that position.

It is time to make these changes as operating a credit union is dramatically different than when Theresa and I started to work here. We used to have lines waiting outside our office to do business daily. Now we probably average less than 15 members a week who stop in. Member applications and loan documents are now all electronic. Checks are still used but the volume is probably 75% less than it was 20 years ago. The regulatory environment continues to expand. A $20 million credit union like FCEFCU is required to complete the same regulatory reporting and requirements as a billion-dollar bank or credit union.

What is not changing is the quality of our membership and our commitment to serving our members. Theresa and I have worked with great grandparents, grandparents, parents, and kids. We have both gotten to know so many of our members on a personal basis that it feels like we have conversations with friends rather than members. That will not change. What will change is how a new and younger President will have grown up with technology. I grew up in the country using a party line. Never saw a computer till college. Basically, it comes down to when you must ask someone else to fix something on your phone, it’s time to have someone younger take over.

Please join us in the credit Union Lobby on January 18th from 3-6 PM to congratulate and celebrate Theresa’s retirement and meet Caitlin. Food and beverages will be provided.

Sincerely,
Brian Lueth
President, FCEFCU
